Three Way Switch Terminals. Three-way wall switches are most commonly used to control a light fixture from two locations, such as from both ends of a hallway or stairway. Inside the switch we have a track which electricity can flow along, this is connected to the switch handle.
The common terminal may be labeled and is usually a different color than the traveler terminals.
One of the most common problems is improper wiring due to connecting the circuit wires to the wrong screw terminals.
Four-way switches must be placed _ in the circuit. two three-way switches and two four-way switches. Connect the wires to screw terminals by slipping the looped wire under the head of the screw. It's there so the electrician can connect the switch to another.
